Purpose: To provide mail delivery services throughout the agency. Responsibilities include sorting, distributing and delivering both internal and external mail throughout the agency’s administration and management offices. Essential Tasks of the Position: • Pickup mail from Post Office and PO Box • Process postage (stamp) for outgoing mail • Sorting and collating inter-office mail, prepare for distribution • Deliver mail to proper recipient through the agency • Deliver outgoing mail to post office/overnight air drop box • Deliver packages to Board Members as directed • Maintain mail room supplies Secondary Tasks of the Position: • Completes special assignments as directed Position Requirements and Qualifications: Education Level • High School Diploma or GED, required Experience in Related Field • Basic understanding of public housing and Section 8 programs, as well as other programs undertaken by Housing Authorities • Familiarity with Housing Authority properties, preferred Knowledge, skills, abilities, licenses and certifications • Active Rhode Island (Class 2) driver's license unrestricted except for corrective lenses • Excellent driving record required • Ability to work quickly and efficiently. Mail often needs to be delivered multiple times per day, as many documents or packages are time-sensitive • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all assignments • Excellent clerical, organizational and communication skills • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team • Ability to work harmoniously with other agency personnel • Ability to relate to and interact with elderly/disabled and family residents in low to moderate income housing settings • Ability to be flexible and perform work within time limits • Ability and willingness to learn appropriate skills, accept responsibility and to complete assignments, as directed Working Conditions: Environmental Parameters • Ability to work in public housing environment in all weather conditions (hot, cold, humid, dry and wet) • Ability to work in an office environment PROVIDENCE HOUSING AUTHORITY Position Description Physical Demands • Ability to lift or push up to 50lbs., with appropriate assistance Work Schedule: • Ability to work Monday through Friday - 20 hours per week • Ability to work flexible hours, occasionally Equipment Used: • Ability to operate agency vehicle in safe manner and to drive defensively • Ability to maintain security of vehicle and its contents at all times Disclaimer The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification.
