About The Position

The Mail Clerk Assistant position is responsible for providing on-site Mail Operations and other administrative and facilities support for all offices in a regional federal government site. Normal operating hours are Monday through Friday 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain a public trust clearance.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years in administrative support functions
  • Must be able to bend, stoop and lift up to 70 pounds overhead or onto moving equipment.
  • Demonstrated accurate data entry and reporting skills and exceptional organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to function in high-pressure situations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software programs (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Responsibilities

  • Assist with mail receipt, processing, scanning, electronic distribution, and physical dispatch for all offices at a federal government site.
  • Ensure all mail is handled securely and in compliance with established security protocols.
  • Organize all mail carts and tubs used to pick up and deliver mail to ensure the orderly flow of mail received and delivered during a mail run.
  • Operate mail processing equipment (postage meters, scanners, shipping systems) and maintain accurate logs, records, and tracking documentation.
  • Communicate proactively with supervisors regarding mail status, issues, or delays to support the efficiency of daily operations.
