About The Position

MIS Insurance Services, a ReSource Pro company, is seeking an Underwriting Assistant to handle the processing and distribution of policy documents, including incoming hard copies, outgoing mail, certified mail, and returned correspondence, while ensuring adequate mailroom and office supplies. This role will also support underwriting functions and policy operations by processing routine policy transactions, assisting with client communications, and resolving low-complexity issues in collaboration with supervisory staff and following established procedures and guidelines. This role is based at the MIS office in Maitland, FL with the option for hybrid work arrangements after training period.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2 years of customer service experience preferred
  • Previous clerical or administrative work preferred
  • Good attention to detail, organizational and communication skills required
  • Quicksolver, MS Suite and Excel experience preferred
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent ability to navigate change

Responsibilities

  • Receive, review, and process hard copy policy documents in accordance with established procedures.
  • Generate, prepare, and send policy documents to policyholders in a timely manner.
  • Sort and manage return mail, determining appropriate next steps such as re-mailing or updating records and coordinate and track certified mail to ensure accurate delivery and compliance.
  • Monitor, order, and maintain mail services and general office supplies to support daily operations.
  • Collaborate with the director or supervisor to process underwriting and policy-related tasks.
  • Follow established procedures to manage routine tasks, including policies, binders, endorsements, cancellations, reinstatements, and final audit transactions.
  • Utilize problem-solving skills to address low-complexity issues; escalate more complex issues to the supervisor.
  • Support client communications as required by responding promptly to client needs, maintaining a high level of professionalism and ensuring a positive client experience.
  • Answers questions professionally and assists clients by completing a task or process for them; fostering a respectful and collaborative environment by upholding professionalism and engaging in constructive and respectful conversations.
  • Support a positive workplace culture by promoting open, solution-oriented communication, encouraging teamwork, and maintaining a focus on shared goals and productivity.
  • Collaborate with co-workers and supervisors to meet client needs and contribute to achievement of internal team goals.
  • Look for opportunities to improve processes to better support client and build knowledge and expertise in underwriting.
