The Magnet Program Director provides direction, coordination and leadership to support teams in achieving and maintaining the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC’s) Magnet Recognition Program designation. Provides leadership and oversight to the strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation of Magnet program initiatives. Works collaboratively with nursing and hospital administration, as well as the medical staff to ensure the organizational culture reflects all Magnet components. Leads, mentors, and coaches nurses at all levels in their understanding and practical application of Magnet standards. Acts as a content expert and resource that interprets and integrates the Magnet standards into nursing practice. Promotes evidence-based practice and research in nursing practice and educational processes. Supports professional governance councils and functions as a liaison to all system departments and consultative resource for administration, nursing, non-nursing employees, physicians, and the community to ensure a one Essentia approach. Promotes nursing excellence, recognition, and empowerment through shared decision making and professional development of nurses. Develops, coordinates, and evaluates the Magnet program to advance a culture of excellence. Works in collaboration with Nursing Quality to collect, correlate, analyze and generate reports for nursing sensitive indicators. Monitors, creates, customizes, and manages databases for the purpose of preparing the annual demographic data collection tool (DDCT), interim monitoring reports, and publication of the Magnet document.
