About The Position

Mission Technologies, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, is seeking a skilled Systems Administrator to support the Mobility Air Forces Distributed Mission Operations (MAF DMO) program. In this role, you will join a highly collaborative technical team responsible for supporting Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) events, mission networks, site connectivity, cybersecurity, and related technical functions. This role is NOT eligible for remote or hybrid work and is executed on-site. #LI-MJ1 Why This Job Matters This position directly supports the U.S. Air Force’s ability to train, rehearse, and prepare for real‑world missions. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 6 years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree in a related field and 4 years of relevant experience OR High School Diploma/equivalent and 10 years of relevant experience
  • Experience implementing and supporting Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Windows NT operating systems (bare‑metal and virtual machine installations)
  • Experience with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and basic SQL
  • Basic understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking
  • Experience configuring software and performing configuration management IAW STIGs and cybersecurity requirements
  • Experience maintaining core VMware technologies (vCenter, ESXi, vSphere Networking, vMotion)
  • Experience supporting NetApp Storage Area Network (SAN) technologies
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) application and update deployments
  • Experience analyzing network traffic and troubleshooting Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS) / High‑Level Architecture (HLA) packets using tools such as Wireshark or Data Protocol Analyzer (DPA)
  • Must hold a Department of Defense (DoD) 8570 Information Assurance Technician (IAT) Level II or higher certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+ CE, CompTIA CySA+, GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC), Cisco CCNA Security, or ISC² SSCP).
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must hold a current or active DoD Secret Security Clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced experience with VMware technologies (vCenter, ESXi, vSphere Networking, vMotion, Horizon)
  • Experience configuring and maintaining NetApp SAN environments
  • Understanding of platform performance analysis, telemetry, and troubleshooting
  • Experience configuring Cisco routers, firewalls, and Nexus/Catalyst switches
  • Experience supporting Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence)
  • Working knowledge of scripting languages (PowerShell, Python, Bash)
  • Experience building application packages, deployment rules, and task sequences in MECM
  • Understanding of Ansible configuration and playbook deployments
  • Strong experience implementing end‑user computing best practices
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple work assignments
  • Experience with IT audit and security assessment processes

Responsibilities

  • Designing, installing, supporting, and maintaining MAF mission network servers, computer systems, and peripheral connections
  • Configuring and modifying software; performing configuration management in accordance with (IAW) all Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and Joint Special Access Program (SAP) Implementation Guide (JSIG) cybersecurity requirements
  • Planning for and responding to service outages and system issues
  • Supporting integration of Operational Testing & Training Infrastructure (OTTI) technologies and MAF DMO solutions
  • Providing application support for office automation tools and Modeling & Simulation software
  • Supporting Host‑Based Security System (HBSS) and Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools and continuous monitoring
  • Implementing workstation patches, security fixes, and service releases
  • Identifying, analyzing, and documenting long‑range system requirements
  • Traveling as needed, including internationally
