About The Position

We are seeking an exceptionally talented individual to join our macro research and strategy team as an experienced Economist focusing on macroeconomic research and investment related analytics for our Discretionary Macro & Fixed Income (DMFI) business. This role will partner with the Centralized Macroeconomic Research team in providing provides economic research and insights to DMFI PMs and stakeholders, actively contributing to business strategy and portfolio management. The economist will be responsible for US and Canada economic data analysis and forecasting and report up to the Head of Research. The role will involve analyzing and commenting on economic data releases and policy events, producing macroeconomic forecasts, writing briefing notes and presenting to internal and external stakeholders. Requirements

  • Strong academic credentials with a higher degree in Economics or related quantitative field preferred but not required
  • At least 3-4 years of relevant work experience in a macroeconomic research and/or strategy role
  • Experience performing economic data forecasting (ideally in the US), macroeconomic analysis and developing global and country-level frameworks
  • Passion and ability to provide coverage across a diverse set of global themes and idiosyncratic situations
  • Demonstrated understanding of macro and fixed income markets and investment strategies
  • Strong Excel and coding skills (Python, R, Matlab welcome) with a track record of using these to conduct econometric analysis, data visualizations, and forecasting frameworks
  • Strong mathematical and statistical modeling experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfort with analysis of large datasets, high-level attention to detail
  • Enthusiasm for learning new things and discovering new ideas in macro and fixed income
  • Outside the box thinking and creative problem solving
