The anticipated salary range for this role is between $110,000.00 and $125,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees. Role DescriptionThis position will report to the Head of Rates Strategy and work closely with the Chief Economist and interest rate strategy team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with macroeconomics and the Federal Reserve system.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, including experience creating charts and data-driven presentations.
  • Strong attention to detail, including the ability to proofread team’s content.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Excel macros is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Bloomberg is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in all aspects of the weekly production of our market and economic commentary, including the collection, processing and maintenance of time series data published by government statistical agencies. The Analyst will also help maintain databases of our research distribution lists.
  • Support analysis of high-frequency economic indicators with training provided in forecasting and writing research commentary for publication.
  • Create and maintain charts and visuals using Excel and PowerPoint.
