About the role Job Summary The Production Worker / Technician is responsible for assembling, testing, and inspecting products to ensure they meet quality and safety standards. This role supports the manufacturing process by identifying defects, maintaining equipment, and following production protocols. This job profile is intended for support staff that follows established procedures and works under close supervision. Smaller/easier decisions are made autonomously. SUMMARY: Ø Works under close supervision, sets up and operates one or more machine tools without assistance. Ø Interprets mechanical drawings, sketches and performs precision metal cutting, grinding, shaping and fitting. Constantly measures components, parts and raw materials with precision measuring instruments, gauges, and tools.

Requirements

  • Completion of related apprenticeship program or equivalent training.
  • Minimum of one year experience in a machine shop operating lathes, mills and drills.
  • Working knowledge of one or more machine tools, such as lathes, drills, milling machines.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and blue prints, apply knowledge of tool geometry, feeds, speeds, and basic math skills.
  • Possess basic hand tools, basic precision measuring tools and proper safety shoes and attire as specified by a minimum tool requirements list specific to the facility requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Operates one or more conventional machine tools, including lathes under close supervision.
  • Interprets blueprints, charts, tables, handbook formulas, sketches, written and verbal orders. Lays out work according to requirements. Makes setups using proper tools, fixturing and attachments to efficiently perform the machining operation. Selects and grinds own cutting tools.
  • Works within close tolerances to meet customer/contract specifications, and applies knowledge of qualities of metals and alloys being machined.
  • Performs any bench work necessary to finish and fit parts to required customer specifications.
  • Supports, cooperates and participates in the company-wide Safety program which includes following all safety policies and procedures.
  • Supports, cooperates and participates in the company-wide Take 5 & Four Principles which is based on teamwork and the four absolutes of quality.
  • Maintains a safe, neat and orderly workstation.
  • Maintains machine tools as required to keep machines in good operating condition.
  • Provides information to allow a smooth transition for other coworkers to follow through with in-process work during or prior to a shift change as required.
  • Assists other team members as directed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Works overtime as requested.
