We are currently seeking a Machinist 2nd Shift (M-Th, 3p-1:30a) to support Manufacturing Manager to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established standards by performing the following duties personally or through co-workers. Acts a focal point for interplant communication, assuring a cohesive LMI approach to meeting its customer quality requirements. In all actions, support LMI's Quality Policy, Mission Statement and other LMI policies and procedures by supporting our commitment to total customer satisfaction, quality products and services, lean processes, continuous improvement, on-time delivery, safety, teaming, individual accountability and respect for people.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or high school equivalency preferred. Candidates that do not have a high school diploma or high school equivalency will be required to take a pre-employment assessment to be considered for the role.
  • To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricates correct parts to schedule in sequence and in a profitable manner while meeting daily goals.
  • Assist Supervisor/Manager with day-to-day operations to meet: safety, cost, quality, and schedule.
  • Aids supervision of the area by setting and working to TAKT time.
  • Manages day-to-day direction from supervision including flow of parts and resources.
  • Support Managers in achieving short and long term corporate goals.
  • Will perform most of the hands–on or OJT training for the team members.
  • Supports cross training matrix by developing employees.
  • Understands operation of all equipment in Value stream.
  • Understands internal procedures and customer specifications.
  • Excellent blue print reading, mylar, and interpretation skills.
  • Understands Lean manufacturing concepts and JIT.
  • Leads lean events.
  • Ability to read, understand and follow work orders.
  • Possesses problem solving & decision making skills.
  • Responsible for 6S in the area.
  • Ability to work in a team oriented environment.
  • Motivates team by leading by example.
  • Models appropriate behavior and reinforces LMI policies and procedures.
  • Main focal point for questions for team members.
  • Create a culture for continuous improvement.
  • Observes safety and security procedures. Reports potentially unsafe conditions.
  • Conducts daily 5-minute safety talk.
  • Uses equipment and materials properly.
  • Enforces all Safety guidelines.
  • Participates in the Safety Team meetings.
  • Works with team to ensure all employees are doing their jobs safely.
