About The Position

HireNow Staffing is confidentially partnering with a precision manufacturing operation in Omaha, Nebraska seeking a skilled Machinist for a second-shift position. This role requires a hands-on professional with strong experience operating both CNC and manual equipment in a job shop or custom fabrication environment. This position is production-focused and demands a machinist who can independently interpret prints, perform complex setups, maintain tight tolerances, and ensure part quality without constant supervision. Stability and long-term tenure in prior machining roles are required. Candidates with frequent short-term employment will not be considered. Local candidates only. This is a fully onsite position.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3–5 years of machining experience in a manufacturing or job shop environment.
  • Hands-on experience operating CNC mills and lathes.
  • Ability to independently machine parts to print.
  • Strong blueprint reading and tolerance comprehension skills.
  • Experience calculating speeds, feeds, and tooling geometry.
  • Proven ability to hold tight tolerances consistently.
  • Valid authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must reside within commuting distance of Omaha, Nebraska.
  • Stable work history with demonstrated long-term tenure.

Nice To Haves

  • 4+ years of job shop machining experience.
  • Experience with both manual and CNC machining environments.
  • Associates degree or completed apprenticeship in Machining, Tool & Die, or related discipline.
  • Experience with precision threading applications.
  • Strong understanding of fits, finishes, and dimensional stack-ups.
  • Experience communicating effectively with engineering and production teams.

Responsibilities

  • Machine Setup & Operation Perform complete setups on CNC mills and lathes with minimal oversight.
  • Operate manual equipment as needed to support specialty jobs and custom parts.
  • Adjust offsets and machine parameters to maintain dimensional accuracy.
  • Run short-run and custom production orders typical of job shop environments.
  • Blueprint Interpretation & Precision Work Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications.
  • Machine components to print while holding tight tolerances.
  • Perform single-point threading including ID, OD, and tapered pipe threads.
  • Select appropriate tooling and determine correct speeds and feeds.
  • Quality & Inspection Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, indicators, and gauges.
  • Verify surface finish requirements and dimensional compliance.
  • Conduct first-piece inspections and make necessary machine adjustments.
  • Identify and troubleshoot dimensional or process discrepancies.
  • Tooling & Maintenance Select, install, and secure tooling, fixtures, and attachments.
  • Sharpen drills and maintain cutting tools.
  • Build and modify simple fixtures to improve production efficiency.
  • Maintain clean and safe workstation practices in accordance with shop standards.
