The Impact You’ll Make in this Role: As a Machinist, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by: Setting up and operating a wide variety of type, model, and size machine tools such as boring bars, drills, grinders, jig bores, key seaters, lathes, milling machines, NC/CNC/MDI machines, presses, saws, and precision testing and measuring instruments to the instrument manufacturer's specification of accuracy. Fabricating, fitting, and assembling parts to the required tolerances and specifications using a wide variety of metallic and nonmetallic materials. Knowing and applying operating principles, purpose, proper application and design limitations of machine tools, machine assemblies and mechanical devices; knows the characteristics of metallic and non-metallic materials used in the fabrication, rebuilding and repair of machines and mechanical devices. Reading and working to the indicated accuracy, specifications and tolerances as detailed on engineering drawings, machine assembly prints, machine construction prints, prints, sketches, equipment manuals and vendor diagrams. Knowing and using safe work methods when performing the job requirements to avoid personal injury, injury to co-workers or damage to 3M property.

Requirements

  • Possess an associate degree or technical diploma or higher in Machine Tool Technology (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
  • Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) years’ experience running basic machining equipment (turning, milling, welding)
  • Experience working with CNC (Computer Numerical Controlled), Lathe and Mill equipment
  • Experience working with Siemens, Fanuc, Mitsubishi and Mazatrol equipment.
  • Five (5) years’ experience working with NX CAD software.
  • Five (5) years’ experience working with CNC machining equipment.
