About The Position

The Machinist II is responsible for the production of valves and parts to meet specifications utilizing machine tools and equipment, such as lathes, mills and other types of machinery. This individual is knowledgeable in the programming of machines and skilled in the operation of machines.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Must have minimum three to five (3-5) years of intermediate machine programming and operating experience.
Must have proficient computer skills.
Must possess good mathematical skills.
Must be able to adjust machine speeds and feeds.
Must be able to read and interpret prints.
Must have ability to operate a forklift.
Must have ability to multi-task.
Must be detail-oriented and pay close attention to accuracy.
Ability to think outside of the box and utilize reasonable deduction.
Possess excellent communication skills.

Nice To Haves

Forklift experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines and other types of machinery.
Read and understand complex machining blueprints.
Write both simple programs and edit existing machining programs as needed.
Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations.
Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
Observe and listen to operating machines or equipment in order to diagnose machine malfunctions and to determine need for adjustments or repairs.
Measure all parts machined to ensure proper dimensions.
Maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.
Clean and lubricate machines, tools, and equipment in order to remove grease, rust, stains, and foreign matter.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
