Job Summary Responsible for fabricating, modifying, and repairing mechanical instruments and assemblies using precision tools and machinery to produce high-quality parts according to specifications. Interpret blueprints, monitor operations, inspect product, problem solve, accurate recordkeeping. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives. Impact of the Role General Profile Requires basic skills in an analytical or scientific method or operational process Works within clearly defined standard operating procedures and/or scientific methods and adheres to quality guidelines Works with close supervision Performs manual tasks according to established procedures

Requirements

• Vocational/Technical Training Degree and 1-2 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience
• Mathematical skills.
• Technical expertise.
• Manual dexterity.
• Physical Stamina.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Proven work experience as a Precision Machinist or in a similar role within a manufacturing setting.
• Strong understanding of machining processes and the ability to operate and maintain various types of machine tools.
• Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
• Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.
• May need to stand for long periods of time.
• Must be willing to work outside normal business hours as required.
• This position is Safety-Sensitive.

Responsibilities

• Assists with the installation, operation, testing, and adjustment of various types of conventional or automatic machines used to produce precision parts and instruments.
• Fabricates and modifies parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.
• Machines parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.
• Measures, examines, and tests completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications.
