JOB SUMMARY This is a journeyman level machinist position where the operator can operate most or all machines in the shop. Our Jabil campus is located in Horseheads, NY. We are proud to manufacture Medical Devices for orthopedic specialties including joint reconstruction, trauma, spinal surgery, sports medicine and specialty implants for leading medical technology companies. Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 10 hours per shift).
  • Frequent walking, bending, stooping, and reaching.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs independently.
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for operating machinery.
  • Visual acuity to inspect parts and read measurements.
  • Tolerance to noise, vibration, and exposure to metalworking fluids.
  • Use of hands and arms in repetitive motions.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a good variety of machine tool equipment such as a drill press, lathe, milling machine, CNC, and other hand and power machines.
  • Perform basic machine setups and tool changes.
  • Work from blueprints, sketches, production diagrams, engineering drawings, and verbal instructions.
  • Perform shop calculations using handbook formulas to lay out patterns and determine tooling feeds and speeds.
  • Monitor machine operations and report malfunctions.
  • Inspect parts using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, dial indicators, and calipers.
  • May assist in programming machines.
  • Work independently or with a Lead to complete jobs accurately and on schedule.
  • Maintain accurate production records and documentation.
  • Clean and maintain equipment and work area.
  • Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
