About The Position

To operate machining equipment in the CNC area, Rod Bending area, or the Brake Press in the Laser area. Must be able to make minor adjustments when needed while complying with safety, maintaining quality criteria, and following production schedules.

Requirements

  • Average mechanical aptitude.
  • Skill in making minor adjustments on all equipment tooling and programs, which is learned on the job.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Skill in using common hand tools and various types of measuring instruments; calipers, micrometers.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other employees.

  • To determine the quality of parts produced.
  • To operate a forklift and other machinery in a safe manner.
  • To determine the cause of improper parts so adjustments can be made at a minimum of time.
  • To ensure the machine is receiving proper lubrication and maintenance.
  • To perform all necessary setups.
  • Perform Startup and Shutdown procedures - Ensure that they can shut down or startup equipment with good manufacturing practices, operating procedures, and safety procedures
  • Read and Understand Work Instructions - Ensure that all work instructions are understood before performing the tasks

Responsibilities

  • Review the work schedule to determine what jobs are to be started or completed.
  • To set up and operate all machining department equipment with assistance from the A Operator in accordance with the tool set up instructions, engineering drawings and specifications for the particular order to be run.
  • Makes necessary adjustments to programs, tools, and equipment, as necessary to facilitate production and quality standards.
  • Periodically inspects parts with blueprint specifications to assure proper dimensioning and quality.
  • Maintains proper lubrication of equipment and cleans machine.
  • Maintains accurate production records.
  • Notifies Process Engineering, Manufacturing Coordinator or Manufacturing Manager of operating problems.
  • Provides information to maintenance and the tool room to assist in diagnosing equipment or tooling problems.
  • Maintains work area in a clean and orderly condition using 5S principles to minimize safety hazards and lost time accidents.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • This position supports the continual improvement and compliance of QMS and EMS.
  • Maintains a good attendance record.
