About The Position

This position is for a Machine Tool Repair Technician responsible for repairing and maintaining mechanical and hydraulic components of production machines and equipment. This includes metal fabricating machine tools, material handling systems, and automated lubrication systems. The role involves working with complex precision machines such as conveyors, lathes, mills, grinders, saws, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, pumps, gears, bearings, and compressors. The technician will use various precision tools for measurement and alignment, assist with dismantling and fabricating parts, and operate equipment like cranes, hoists, and mobile equipment to move and set machinery.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
  • Willingness to work shift work and various shifts
  • Experience with lathes, mills, and broaching, general shop equipment (drill presses, vertical/horizontal band saws, hydraulic presses) measuring and hand tools
  • Ability to read and fabricate parts from blueprints and ISO drawings
  • Able to align a pump and motor within 5 thousandths of an inch
  • Operate mobile equipment fork trucks and man-lifts
  • High school diploma or GED and 3+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Knowledge of Lathe, Mills, Cut Off Saw and Drill Press equipment

Responsibilities

  • Works with industry-specific and high complex precision machines including but not limited to: conveyors, lathes, mills, grinders, saws, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, pumps, gears, bearings, compressors etc.
  • Uses precision leveling and alignment tools in order to measure angles, material thickness and small distances with calipers, squares, micrometers, and other tools.
  • Fits bearings, align gears and wheels, attach motors and connect belts according to manufacturer’s blueprints and drawings
  • Assist with the dismantling of machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars and other hand tools
  • Fabricates and installs parts on equipment and machinery by measuring, cutting, and drilling
  • Assist with the unloading, inspecting, moving and setting of equipment into position using cranes, hoists, dollies, rollers and trucks
  • Uses rigging and hoisting devices such as chokers, chain falls and hand winches to move equipment / materials into place
  • Conducts preventative maintenance on conveyors, lathes, mills, grinders, saws, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, pumps
