About The Position

SUMMARY: The Youth Apprentice - Machining will shadow a skilled machinist to learn machining operations on a wide variety of manual and CNC machine tools.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a qualified youth apprenticeship program.
  • On track for high-school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to learn under the direction of a mentor.
  • Ability to work safely.
  • Ability to learn basic blueprint reading skills.
  • Ability to learn G&M code.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate completed and in-process work.
  • Maintain machine tools in proper operational condition.
  • May assist in producing parts to print holding tight tolerances while working to production schedules.
  • Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
  • Will work alongside team members to inspect machine parts to ensure they meet proper size, shape, or tolerance specs using micrometers and other measuring tools and devices.
  • May assist with equipment operation to verify operational efficiency.
  • Maintain safety by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
