About The Position

The Machine Setup & Operator I will be responsible for efficiently and safely setting up and operating various pieces of production equipment within the facility. This role includes ensuring product quality, meeting production goals, and actively participating in process improvements.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to use a personal computer for inquiries, updates, printing reports, and modifying items daily (Microsoft products, WMS/ERP systems).
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of arithmetic and geometry with ability to use measuring devices such as calipers, height gauges, setup blocks, tape measures, etc.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and management, both verbally and in writing.
  • Capacity to multi-task with speed and accuracy while prioritizing tasks and maintaining excellent organizational skills to troubleshoot and problem-solve.
  • Use of proper PPE and company-approved tools while maintaining a safe work environment.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 to 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing setting operating woodworking equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up, adjusts, and operates equipment including moulders, lathes, automatic turning lathes, glue press, finger jointer, routers, and other ancillary woodworking equipment.
  • Reads work orders and examines product specifications to determine setup procedures, materials, and proper run sequence.
  • Selects and installs cutting heads and/or tooling on equipment according to profile and specifications.
  • Verifies characteristics of materials in process using gauges, rulers, calipers, templates, schedules, and work instructions to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Inspects material for defects before and after processing.
  • Ensures processes meet goals for output, downtime, and scrap.
  • Accurately reports production activity through system transactions and written documentation.
  • Communicates machine maintenance and performance issues to Manager.
  • Ensures proper guarding and safety devices are functioning and in use.
  • Provides coverage as needed in other areas within or outside the department.
  • May work overtime, alternate shifts, and weekends as needed on short notice.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
