About The Position

The Machine Parts Inspector II is responsible for performing detailed inspections on a wide variety of precision and complex in-process and finished machined parts, highly complex components, castings, forgings, fabricated sheet metal parts, and hardware that is produced in-house and/or supplied by vendors. This role involves mechanical inspection of parts including first article, in-process, and final, as well as verification of materials, processes, and certifications from sub-tier vendors. The inspector will complete all applicable paperwork, working to AS9100 standards, and perform various other quality tasks to ensure timely delivery of precision machined parts. Maintaining a clean work area and proper handling of tools, equipment, and stock are also key to prevent damage or loss. The position also assists in training other Machine Parts Inspector I and contributes to related work including calibration of inspection tools, and development and enforcement of quality systems procedures necessary to satisfy AS9100, military, and customer specifications.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 6 years mechanical inspection and/or machining experience
  • Ability to perform complex set-ups for part inspection
  • Must be proficient with complicated blueprints and advanced job shop mathematical calculations
  • Familiar with all facets of inspection techniques, including manual CMM operation, a wide range of inspection and measuring tools, and surface plate set-ups
  • Must be able to follow written instructions and to work with little to no supervision
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Familiarity with requirements of an AS9100 based quality management system
  • Thorough understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing per ANSI Y14.5
  • US. Citizenship with the ability to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense security clearance
  • Basic computer skills
  • High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities

  • Completion of all applicable paperwork (working to AS9100 standards)
  • Performance of various other quality tasks as required to ensure the timely delivery of precision machined parts to the customer
  • Cleanliness of the work area and proper handling of tools, equipment, and stock to prevent damage or loss
  • Assist in training other Machine Parts Inspector I
  • Related work including calibration of inspection tools, and development and enforcement of quality systems procedures necessary to satisfy AS9100, military, and customer specifications
  • Ensure that all required process operations have been performed on the product that is being inspected
  • Document inspection results accurately and completely by completing forms, logs, and reports
  • Enters all quality data into the appropriate electronic or manual systems
  • Other duties as assigned
