About The Position

V2X is seeking a Machine Parts Inspector I to perform detailed inspections on a wide variety of precision and complex in-process and finished machined parts, highly complex components, castings, forgings, fabricated sheet metal parts, and hardware produced in-house and/or supplied by vendors. This role involves mechanical inspection, verification of materials and processes, completion of paperwork to AS9100 standards, and other quality tasks to ensure timely delivery of parts to customers. The inspector is also responsible for maintaining a clean work area, proper handling of tools, and may assist in training other inspectors. The position includes related work such as calibration of inspection tools and development/enforcement of quality systems procedures to satisfy AS9100, military, and customer specifications.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 6 years mechanical inspection and/or machining experience.
  • Ability to perform complex set-ups for part inspection.
  • Must be proficient with complicated blueprints and advanced job shop mathematical calculations.
  • Familiar with all facets of inspection techniques, including manual CMM operation, a wide range of inspection and measuring tools, and surface plate set-ups.
  • Must be able to follow written instructions and to work with little to no supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills and familiarity with requirements of an AS9100 based quality management system.
  • Thorough understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing per ANSI Y14.5.
  • U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense security clearance.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed inspections on a wide variety of precision and complex in-process and finished machined parts, highly complex components, castings, forgings, fabricated sheet metal parts, and hardware that is produced in-house and/or supplied by vendors.
  • Conduct mechanical inspection of parts including first article, in-process, and final.
  • Verify materials and processes and verify certifications from sub-tier vendors.
  • Complete all applicable paperwork, working to AS9100 standards.
  • Perform various other quality tasks as required to ensure the timely delivery of precision machined parts to the customer.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the work area and ensure proper handling of tools, equipment, and stock to prevent damage or loss.
  • Assist in training other Machine Parts Inspector I.
  • Perform related work including calibration of inspection tools, and development and enforcement of quality systems procedures necessary to satisfy AS9100, military, and customer specifications.
  • Ensure that all required process operations have been performed on the product that is being inspected.
  • Document inspection results accurately and completely by completing forms, logs, and reports.
  • Enter all quality data into the appropriate electronic or manual systems.
