About The Position

Machine Operator Full Time Location: South Bend, IN, US Salary: $19.75 Hourly Job Title : Machine Operator Reports to: Production Supervisor FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Schedule: Monday through Thursday (6:00AM to 4:30PM ) overtime as needed Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Regular and predictable attendance Operates welding machines Operates resistance welders Operates rollers Operates presses Operates high pressure testers Sets stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, or template Positions work piece against stops or guides Pushes button or depresses pedal to activate machine Observes machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunction Measures work piece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation Performs minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines, dies, or work pieces Uses air drills and wire brushes to clean final product Packages final product Performs housekeeping tasks keeping work areas clean Additional duties may be assigned or removed, as business needs dictate Prior work experience, specialized skills, and knowledge : Ability to work as part of a team and cooperate with others Attention to detail Sound judgement, discretion, and high level of civility Initiative to drive organizational processes Physical environment/working conditions: Works in a manufacturing environment in warm or cold temperatures. The individual must be able to do the following: Visually receive and identify detailed information Detect the presence of sounds within a range of volumes and frequencies Respond to sights and sounds Understand written/printed material Understand verbal information Speak clearly and articulately Actively exchange ideas/thoughts with others Check, compare, or copy details Use words and ideas to figure out/solve problems that require orderly, logical, thought Manipulate small, medium, or large objects, materials, or tools on a frequent basis Operate hand tools, grinders, and gages throughout the shift Use arms/legs continually and repeatedly throughout the shift Lift up to 40 lbs continuously throughout the shift Apply a specific level of strength to move an object Stand for long periods of time throughout the shift Move at a fast pace across specified terrain throughout the shift Adjust body position while performing tasks
