About The Position

Under the direction of the Department Manager, the Machine Operator ensures the production of company products at the highest quality and at the lowest possible cost, meeting company policies and procedures. The Machine Operator will act in a manner that is consistent with Gordon Aluminum’s Customer 1st Philosophy. Essential Duties and Responsibilities This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time. The general purpose of the Machine Operator is to operate machines to perform one or more machine functions on metal work pieces.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concreate variable in standardized situations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining safe work habits and a work area abiding by all safety policies
  • Lift and load work pieces into the machine
  • Takes the first part to QC Lab for first piece inspection approval (Must be able to operate Portage Table) or get assistants from Quality Tech
  • Sets approved first piece at the machine center for reference until job is completed
  • Checks all the dimensions and Process notes specified on the In-Process Inspection Report (Deburring countersink, or other minor operations to finish the piece)
  • Performs final piece count, print tag and enter production in Shop-Trak when the order is done
  • Performs required cleaning of machine and area
  • Performs any and all other duties assigned by management
