Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED is highly desirable but not required.
  • One (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience.
  • Must be willing to become forklift certified.
  • Ability to work overtime as required to meet business needs.
  • Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions in English.
  • Communicate problems or needs to departmental supervision.
  • Communicate and interact with coworkers in a professional manner.
  • Pay attention to detail and follow work instructions.
  • High awareness for safety with the ability to wear all required PPE and work in a non-temperature controlled environment, as well as with exposure to outdoors.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds, although most frequent lift is up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to spend 75% of workday standing or walking, 10% bending or kneeling, 10% stooping, and 5% climbing.
  • Ability to be company trained and authorized to operate equipment and machinery.
  • Ability to work overtime as required to meet business needs.
  • Self-motivated ability to be internally inspired to perform task to the best of one’s ability using his/her own drive or initiative.
  • Passion and integrity with the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results.

Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of department and plant processes.
  • Knowledge of production equipment/handheld tools used in department in a professional manner (Spinner, Iron Worker, Ring Roller, Spiral Roller, Parts Washer and Mig and Stick Welding.
  • Forklift Certification.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Operate Spinner and complete inspections.
  • Department processes and safety training.
  • Perform minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines, dies, or work pieces.
  • Reads job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
  • Participate in Lean manufacturing, Gemba and 5S.
  • Ability to accurately use and read a tape measure.
  • Demonstrate excellent safety practices and behaviors which conform to all Valmont safety policies and procedures.
  • Understand mixes, hydraulic pumps and pressures, flow path and comprehension of equipment clean up.
  • Ability to work overtime as required to meet business needs.
  • Demonstrates the ability of attention to detail of product and processes.
  • Perform strenuous activities for a moderate duration.
  • Maintains an attitude that unlawful or unethical actions are not accepted.
  • Performs other duties directed by leaders and management.
  • Actively participate in department safety, demonstrate excellent safety practices and behaviors, which conform to all Valmont safety policy and procedures.

  • Ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions.

  • Remove all debris and foreign material from mold.
  • Appropriately apply a thin layer of oil to coat mold skin from tip to butt.
  • Articulate the difference in chuck bodies and wedges and install them correctly on to the mold strand.
  • Ability to read, measure and install the false plate per the engineered drawing.
  • Ability to read and comprehend the daily layout sheet and install the correct size spiral wire in the mold to approximately match the mold sections dimensions.
  • Ability to read and comprehend the engineered drawing and determine the correct type and length of demold and install correctly and while it is flush and secured in place at the tip of the tension plate with tie wire.
  • Obtains initial stress jack certification from EHS.
  • Identify and report safety hazards.
  • Assist with general plant clean up and housekeeping.
