Job Title: Acid House - Acid descaling solution operator (ADS) Position Overview: Acid Pickling is a process that involves immersing steel in an acidic solution to remove surface oxides, rust and other impurities. This process helps enhance the steel/s surface quality and provides better conditions for subsequent processing and coating.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate – verbal and written.
  • Ability to perform basic math functions with accuracy.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry purposes
  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred
  • Forklift experience preferred
  • 1-2 years in industrial machinery

Responsibilities

  • Read work orders/bill of materials to determine product specifications.
  • Responsible for quantity and quality to meet efficiency rates.
  • Use and maintain various types of equipment and machinery.
  • Reporting/communicating machinery issues to supervisor/maintenance.
  • Inspect products to ensure product excellence and quality using measuring tools (tape measure/micrometer/tensile test machine)
  • Obtain all required approvals.
  • Label packages.
  • Use of forklifts, cranes, and hand carts to load/unload machine and to move material to and from machines.
  • Record and document production as well as all downtime.
  • Ensure and observe all safety and housekeeping rules and guidelines, including carrying out daily safety inspections.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Inspect material during processing to ensure proper quality is maintained.
  • Complete all documentation and turn in work order to supervisor.
  • Know and understand Lockout/Tagout
  • Read SDS’s to familiarized with chemicals used
  • Follow all PPE
  • Train new operators.
  • Cut samples for quality control.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Work in confined spaces.
  • Complete all assigned training, including monthly health and safety sessions.
  • Operate various tanks, moly spray, baker and copper coat
  • Work in various weather conditions and environment(inside/out)
  • Work in a dusty environment
  • Operate baker bell and genesis furnaces
  • Pump solutions from ADS tanks
  • Remove sludge from ADS tanks
  • Monitor sub shavers’ quality of material being processed in ADS tanks
  • Adjust rime and temperature of various furnaces
  • Make new ADS solutions as needed
  • Work overtime as required.
  • Assist manager and other operators as necessary
