About The Position

The Machine Operator on the second shift is responsible for operating machinery and guiding line personnel to ensure safe production, meet customer demands, and achieve company objectives. This role involves upholding the company's core values, actively participating in maintaining a safe work environment, and conducting observations. Key duties include inspecting equipment for safety, interpreting production orders, and adhering to company productivity and quality standards. The operator will utilize forklifts, cranes, and manual methods for material handling, completing all necessary documentation. The position requires continuous standing and walking for 8 to 12 hours daily and involves exposure to varying and extreme outdoor weather conditions. The operator is also expected to demonstrate potential for advancement to Operator II and Operator III roles, communicate effectively with the team and management, and perform basic preventative equipment maintenance.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years production and/or shipping experience, preferably in the metals/materials industry
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds on a continual basis above shoulder height and below the waist
  • Must be at least 18 years of age to apply

  • Complete proper documentation for materials produced
  • Good communication with Team, Supervisor, and Management
  • Maintain promotability to Operator II and Operator III
  • Execute assignments as given by the Supervisor or Group Leader
  • Immediately inform supervision of all equipment, process, material, safety, and quality concerns
  • Follow all work instructions, policies, work rules, safety guidelines, and work procedures
  • Training other team members as assigned
  • Participate in daily housekeeping of assigned areas and other cleanup efforts as assigned
  • Participate in problem solving, continuous improvement, and customer complaint resolution efforts
  • Read and understand product blueprints and technical data sheets as required
  • Perform basic preventative equipment maintenance as assigned
  • Accept reassignment to other departments as workload dictate
