About The Position

Responsible for setting up and operating various machine tools to metallic and nonmetallic work pieces while providing support to the production team.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred and 1-2 years Machine Operator experience
  • Ability to work in a fast pace environment
  • Team-oriented with strong communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with others to work as a team.
  • Must have the ability to perform accurate measurements and basic arithmetic.
  • Must be able to use a measuring tape, caliper and other measuring tools.
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to work independently, detail-oriented with strong communication skills.

  • This position requires the ability to stand for extended periods and perform lifting, twisting, and bending.

  • Lifting and Carrying: Up to 50 lbs. on an occasional basis
  • Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes and airborne particles. The employee operates in a loud noise level environment. This position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and uses standard heavy equipment and tools.
  • The employee must wear a respirator and hard hat (when applicable), approved safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed shoes at all times.
  • Personal Protective Equipment and Safety: The employee must wear approved Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, respirator, hearing protection, and steel-toed shoes at all times.
  • Always demonstrate and perform safety practices.
  • Successful candidate must meet all conditions of Fresno Valves & Casting's Drug and Alcohol testing requirements as a condition of employment. Drug/alcohol screening is administered post-offer and pre-employment.

Responsibilities

  • Reads and studies blueprints, work orders and plans for product specification
  • Selects, positions and secures tools in holder
  • Set specific feeds, speeds and depth of cuts
  • Control valves to direct flow of coolant or cutting oil against tools/work pieces
  • Observes proper machine operation
  • Performs daily machine maintenance
  • Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
  • Clean and maintain the work area and equipment, including tools.
  • Performs routine inspections of completed pieces
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
