Plus all of our associates are paid WEEKLY. We presently have a full-time position available for a Machine Operator at our Elkmont, Alabama Manufacturing Plant. The position reports directly to a Production Supervisor. The hours for this role are Monday through Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. This is a second shift position and the candidate must be able to work this schedule consistently as required. Position Summary: The ability to set up, maintain and operate manual machinery as well as the ability to maintain and operate CNC machinery that meets productivity levels and quality standards. You will ensure the interminable and efficient running of production. The work to be performed is in a factory environment. If operating a CNC machine, the associate will NOT perform any set-ups or tooling changes on the CNC machine. This position may require overtime to include weekends.

Requirements

  • High School diploma, or a G.E.D. and one to three years manufacturing experience.
  • Working knowledge of diverse high-speed machinery and measurement tools (i.e. calipers, micrometers, etc.)
  • Understanding of production procedures.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics and manuals.
  • Analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to apply basic mathematical skills: add, subtract, multiply, divide.
  • Perform work from drawings, specifications and formulas involving limited detail.
  • Good communication skills.
  • The ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Must be aware and adhere to all company and departmental safety procedures and policies.
  • Ability to work on 1st, 2 nd , or 3rd shifts.
  • All candidates must be at least 18 years of age or older and possess excellent knowledge of the English language including reading, writing, and speaking.
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Physical requirements necessary to perform essential job functions are: Bending, standing and/or walking for an extended length of time (typically 8 hours); light lifting on a repetitive basis or lifting on an occasional basis of approximately 30 pounds; repetitive motions required in some jobs; visual acuity required in most jobs, eye-hand coordination, finger dexterity, and the ability to concentrate for extended periods of time.

Responsibilities

  • KEY TASKS Set-up MANUAL machines (calibration, cleaning, etc.) to start a production cycle.
  • Operate both manual and CNC machines.
  • Set up, operate, or tend manual machines to cut, shear, punch, crimp, bend, or straighten material.
  • Operate or tend manual CNC machines to cut, shear, punch, crimp, bend, or straighten material.
  • Read and interprets blueprints, engineering specifications, and shop orders to determine machine setup, production methods, and sequence of operation.
  • Position and clamp stops, guides, and turntables.
  • Adjust controls to set and regulate machining factors.
  • Work against stops and guides or align layout marks with dies or cutting blades manually.
  • Start and observe machine operation to reposition or adjust machine settings for multiple or successive passes.
  • Inspect or measures parts, using ruler, gauges, and templates .
  • Control and adjust machine settings.
  • Make off-sets on both manual and CNC machines.
  • Feed raw material or parts to semi-automated machines.
  • Test operation of machines periodically.
  • Resolve/fix issues that might occur during the shift.
  • Check output to spot any machine-related mistakes or flaws.
  • Change inserts on MANUAL machines and CNC machines.
  • Edit MANUAL machines only, not CNC machines.
  • Pull programs on MANUAL machines only, not CNC machines.
  • Manually assemble parts using various hand tools to complete the process.
  • Examine completed workpieces for defects, such as chipped edges or marred surfaces and sort defective pieces according to types of flaws.
  • Measure completed workpieces to verify conformance to specifications, using micrometers, gauges, calipers, templates, or rulers.
  • Set stops on machine beds and change dies.
  • Start machines, monitor their operations, and record operational data.
  • Prepare completed parts for shipment by boxing, labeling, weighting and crating.
  • Document and complete departmental paperwork.
  • Meet required productivity levels.
  • Support and adhere to all safety requirements, wear proper personal protective equipment distributed and approved by the company
  • Ensure that housekeeping is maintained
  • Material Handling as required
  • Perform other duties as necessary.
