Purpose of the Role This position is responsible for the setup, operation, and preventative maintenance of equipment in order to produce according to quality specifications in an efficient and safe manner.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED, preferred.
  • At least one year of experience in high-volume manufacturing highly preferred (e.g. equipment setup/operation/changeover, use of measurement tools and knowledge of preventive maintenance)
  • Willing to work assigned shift with some mandatory overtime including weekends
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to understand basic machinery
  • Prior experience with hand tools (e.g. wrenches)
  • Ability to recognize and identify parts, problems, and offer resolution
  • Ability to read blueprints / specification sheets and follow instructions
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
  • Successfully complete on-the-job training (blueprint reading and measurement tools)
  • General housekeeping duties
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude and experience operating mechanical manufacturing machinery such as nail headers, threaders, and collators.
  • Perform efficient machine set-ups, changeovers, start-ups, and necessary adjustments to consistently produce products that meet quality specifications while maintaining productivity targets.
  • Conduct and document quality checks in accordance with specification sheets; recognize and inspect quality issues and troubleshoot process or quality concerns with engineers to implement corrections and documentation.
  • Use precision measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Maintain machines by regularly oiling, cleaning, draining oil trays, removing scrap, and sweeping floors to ensure proper housekeeping and operational standards.
  • Follow all safety rules and precautions, identify potential safety hazards, and support safety practices and procedures at all times.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment and perform 5S activities and continuous improvement initiatives as required.
  • Collaborate with team members and participate in team meetings and events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
