About The Position

The Machine Operator plays a critical role in leading production line activities while ensuring efficient, high-quality, and safe operations. This position combines hands-on equipment operation with the leadership responsibility of directing a team of associates to meet production goals. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in manufacturing or machinery operation is preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Production Machine Line Operator or in a similar manufacturing role preferred.
  • Proficient in operating production line equipment and performing routine maintenance tasks.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and effective problem-solving skills.
  • Solid understanding of production line machinery, equipment, and safety protocols.
  • Ability to read and interpret production schedules, technical manuals, and quality standards.
  • Excellent attention to detail to ensure accurate production and compliance with quality expectations.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with team members and supervisors.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Capable of lifting and moving items up to 50 lbs. as needed.
  • Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for equipment operation and adjustments.
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, fluctuating temperatures, and moving machinery.
  • Willingness to work regular hours with potential overtime or weekend shifts based on production demands.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate with team members, communicate clearly, hold others accountable, and promote a positive, productive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the production line by leading daily operations, coordinating tasks for line associates, and ensuring clear communication across shifts.
  • Act as the go-to decision maker on the line to resolve issues quickly, escalate when necessary, and keep production moving without compromising quality or safety.
  • Monitor associate performance, coach in real time, and ensure everyone is working to standard procedures and expectations.
  • Operate and monitor machinery to ensure optimal performance and product consistency.
  • Set up and calibrate machines for different production runs, adjusting settings as needed to maintain throughput and product integrity.
  • Perform in-process quality checks to ensure compliance with product specifications and company standards.
  • Identify and immediately address product defects, deviations, or potential risks to ensure only high-quality products reach our customers.
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs to reduce downtime.
  • Partner with maintenance and engineering teams for escalated technical issues and equipment upgrades.
  • Enforce and model safety protocols, including the proper use of PPE and adherence to operational standards.
  • Identify and report safety hazards, and actively contribute to a culture of safety and accountability.
  • Maintain accurate and timely production records, downtime logs, and quality reports.
  • Communicate shift handovers and performance updates to leads and peers.
  • Lead by example in identifying opportunities to streamline operations, improve line efficiency, and enhance team performance.
  • Participate in lean manufacturing or Kaizen initiatives when applicable.
