About The Position

This position involves performing simple to complex set-up and operation of various machinery within the Processing Group, including Saw, Press Brake, Tube Laser, and Rolls. Key responsibilities include observing machine operations to detect malfunctions, adjusting machine controls and offsets, and conducting spot checks on completed parts to ensure they meet tolerance specifications. The role also requires processing all necessary paperwork in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and maintaining a clean and organized work area to uphold quality and safety standards. Additionally, the successful candidate must be able to learn the safe operation of overhead cranes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • At least 2 years' experience running a press brake in a metal shop environment
  • Ability to perform machine setup
  • Ability to read tooling lists, blueprints and manufacturing documentation
  • Ability to use standard measuring equipment to measure dimensions and tolerances
  • Ability to organize work and communicate effectively with coworkers
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to answer questions effectively before small groups of customers or departmental meetings
  • Ability to read blueprints and understand dimensional tolerances
  • Ability to convert decimals to fractions and fractions to decimals
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to perform general algebra and geometry
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions

Responsibilities

  • Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions, adjust machine controls and offsets.

  • Processes all paperwork according to Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Keeps work area neat and organized at all times to promote an image of quality and a safe environment.
