Machine Operator II is the next level of progression in the machine operation field. Machine operator II has successfully completed both practical demonstration and written exam requirements associated with certification. Operator fully demonstrates the ability to set up and operate CNC and/or manual machines to produce precision parts for at least one program with lo-moderate complexity without oversight. Operator follows and complies with established standard work practices under general supervision. The operator will typically refer to problems or deviations to more experienced operators including Lead Technicians, supervisors or engineers.

Requirements

  • Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D. in the US) or vocational/technical education in related discipline with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience

  • Working knowledge of manufacturing machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance, considered a technical expert in at least one discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience working on multiple complex programs in primary discipline and capable of working on several moderate programs in primary or additional disciplines.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees and management.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as primary training coordinator for main discipline in all areas of the plant including support of aftermarket business as required by the business
  • Perform calibration, welding, machining, and/or furnace operations on highly complex parts/programs.
  • Independently analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in solving work problems to improve COPQ, OTD and costs
  • Follow up with overall support staff (engineer, buyer/planner, customer service) and drive resolution of production issues
  • Monitor daily production and minimize errors in the process, empowered to help troubleshoot issues and provide guidance to operators
  • Ensure optimum usage of available resources and technology to achieve goals.
  • Collaborate with leadership and gains peers support to achieve daily operations and goals
  • Support and drive continuous improvement deployment using the fundamentals of lean, lean daily management, six sigma, and employee involvement.
  • Conduct employee training on equipment operations, work, safety, procedures, paperwork, Quality Management System, etc. and provide continuous mentorship of new and current employees
  • Perform process audits of employees to ensure employees are retaining skills and training knowledge to build overall team bench strength
  • Support and follow all rules/guidelines/standards set by EHS, Quality, and CI functions as set by your leader and position
  • Work extended shifts/overtime as required by the business
  • Some Holiday hours may be required based on business need
  • Ability to obtain FAR 145 repairman license if required by the business
