Position Overview: A bull block operator is dedicated to continuous improvement and responsible for operating and overseeing the bull block machines.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent required
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, follow instructions and use simple math and basic handheld measuring tools
  • Excellent time management skills with ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Ability to see color changes for testing purposes
  • Basic computer skills (windows application)
  • Trouble shooting skills
  • Self-motivated

  • Ability to perform multiple tasks
  • Detail oriented

  • Forklift experience
  • Ability to work overtime

Responsibilities

  • Set-up and operate an assigned bull block machine(s)
  • Continually monitor bull block machine for speed, coating level and wire surface quality
  • Effectively use the following tools in the production of the wire: micrometer, pointer, welder, overhead crane, wire tensile tester, and in-line cleaner
  • Fill out proper paperwork during wire production process
  • Determine order requirements and adjust production process accordingly
  • Perform preventative maintenance activities
  • Perform shipping/receiving duties
  • Identify and correct problems in the bull block operation
  • Communicate production changes and problems to the appropriate personnel or department
  • Assist other areas in the bull block department as needed
  • Train other employees
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and plant as well as assist in general plant cleaning (e.g., floor sweeper and painting)
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures
  • Proper and safe operation of forklift and equipment
