About The Position

The Machine Operator is an individual contributor. This person must be a highly driven individual that will polish, grind, or process material as directed by work instruction through the use of designated machines. (For example: Polisher and, if applicable based on location, material handling equipment)

Requirements

  • The ability to calculate simple mathematics and interpret shop drawings.
  • One year experience working in a fast paced manufacturing environment.
  • If applicable based on location, ability to operate forklifts and acquire forklift certification.
  • If applicable based on location, ability to operate overhead cranes and acquire overhead crane certification.
  • Ability to accurately perform basic arithmetic calculations.
  • Ability to read and work with prints, drawings, and work documents.
  • Ability to accurately take measurements using close tolerance measuring instruments.
  • Acceptable attendance and prior employment record
  • The ability to work in a team environment with a diverse group of people.
  • The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions .
  • Wear required personal protective equipment and follow facility safety regulations.
  • Maintain a safe and productive working environment.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1 – 3 years of experience working in a fast paced manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with radial saws, hand tools, overhead cranes, and general shop safety
  • The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions.
  • The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner.
  • Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results.
  • Must have a high awareness for safety at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) and work both in a non-temperature controlled environment and outdoors.
  • Ability to perform the functions of the job while adhering to the Safety Absolutes.
  • Operate a hand-held grinder to finish small part components.
  • Manage time to efficiently produce quality products within designated work hours.
  • Communicate information and provide feedback, in person, with co-workers, Shift Lead, Shift Supervisor &/or Production/Operations Manager
  • Perform lean, 5S, and/or general housekeeping.
  • If applicable based on location, responsible for inspecting materials to ensure that products meet established quality standards and quantities are correct for each order.
  • If applicable based on location, inspect aluminum shafts and evaluate condition.
  • If applicable based on location, remove dents, grind and router as needed.
  • If applicable based on location, prepare finished shafts for protection in shipment as directed by work instruction.
  • If applicable based on location, responsible for machine set up, including setting rollers to specified lengths, and verifying dimensions from shop drawings.
  • If applicable based on location, observe operation and periodically verify conformance of machined work to process sheet, specifications, and blueprint data.
  • If applicable based on location, use overhead crane to load/unload machinery.
  • If applicable based on location, use forklift to move or unload material or machinery.
  • Other duties as required and/or assigned.
  • The employee is responsible for own work.
  • Must be able to work with other employees to complete job.
  • If applicable based on location, setup, operate, and perform general maintenance of equipment without difficulty.
  • If applicable based on location, make mathematical calculations in preparing product or setting up the machinery.
  • The employee must maintain a safe and productive work environment producing a quality product which is shipped complete and on time to satisfy the needs of the customer.
  • The employee has a direct impact on safety, quality, productivity, TME (total manufacturing expenses), and customer satisfaction.
