About The Position

Description Wave is looking for a creative and highly motivated Machine Learning/Cheminformatics Co-op to help develop machine learning or AI models of oligonucleotide activity as a member of an agile cheminformatics team. Create a significant impact by building predictive models for direct usage in drug discovery projects. Shadow an experienced data scientist as they help guide and support a discovery team on its path to delivering successful treatments for serious diseases.
Requirements
- Coursework in computer science, statistics, or a related field
- Completed at least 2 programming courses
- Experience with SQL, Python, or R
- Knowledge of machine learning approaches (e.g., SVM, RF, NN)
- Driven, curious and able to work both independently and collaboratively
- Experience using source code version control systems
- Interest in learning the scientific domain
- Ability to learn new software and technologies quickly
- Ability to follow instructions and work in a team environment
- Detail-oriented
Responsibilities
- Improving your coding and data science skills
- Extract and maintain datasets from both public and internal sources
- Build models for delivery to our scientific partners
- Perform rigorous experimentation to determine the drivers of model accuracy
- Learn and follow agile processes
- Attend cheminformatics team meetings
- Provide honest, constructive feedback to all team members
