Description Wave is looking for a creative and highly motivated Machine Learning/Cheminformatics Co-op to help develop machine learning or AI models of oligonucleotide activity as a member of an agile cheminformatics team. Create a significant impact by building predictive models for direct usage in drug discovery projects. Shadow an experienced data scientist as they help guide and support a discovery team on its path to delivering successful treatments for serious diseases.

Requirements

  • Coursework in computer science, statistics, or a related field
  • Completed at least 2 programming courses
  • Experience with SQL, Python, or R
  • Knowledge of machine learning approaches (e.g., SVM, RF, NN)
  • Driven, curious and able to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Experience using source code version control systems
  • Interest in learning the scientific domain
  • Ability to learn new software and technologies quickly
  • Ability to follow instructions and work in a team environment
  • Detail-oriented

  • Improving your coding and data science skills
  • Extract and maintain datasets from both public and internal sources
  • Build models for delivery to our scientific partners
  • Perform rigorous experimentation to determine the drivers of model accuracy
  • Learn and follow agile processes

  • Provide honest, constructive feedback to all team members
