Your Role Each day begins with reviewing project documentation to understand system requirements, assembly details, and build expectations. You'll work with a variety of mechanical tools and equipment to assemble automation systems with precision and efficiency. Quality will be a constant priority-you'll inspect components, verify assemblies, and ensure every project meets ATC's rigorous standards. Collaboration plays a major role in your success. You'll partner with engineers and fellow technicians to troubleshoot issues, document processes, and propose improvements that enhance system reliability and performance. Maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment is essential to ensuring both safety and excellence.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, with 1–3 years of hands-on experience or technical certificate in a related manufacturing, assembly, or mechanical field.
  • Proven ability to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications, including mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic schematics.
  • Strong knowledge of bill of materials (BOMs), with the ability to verify component conformance to design and customer requirements.
  • Experience aligning components and assemblies, verifying tolerances, and ensuring proper fit and function of moving parts.
  • Skilled in mechanical assembly, machine setup, and operational testing, including running equipment through tryouts and validating performance.
  • Proficient in layout work, including locating, drilling, and tapping holes for assembly.
  • Ability to hand sketch parts and accurately dimension them for fabrication or modification.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting skills, including the ability to identify root causes of mechanical or system malfunctions and recommend corrective actions.
  • Authorized to make disposition decisions on nonconforming parts, including rework or rejection, in accordance with quality standards.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work cooperatively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Professional demeanor when interacting with customers, coworkers, and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, follow detailed instructions, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated reliability, including regular and punctual attendance.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by management.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of machining processes, toolmaking, and mechanical design concepts is preferred.
  • Ability to collaborate with machine designers and engineers during concept development, fabrication, and assembly, including authorizing drawing changes as needed.
  • Experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics, pneumatic circuits, and I/O diagrams, with the ability to plumb pneumatic systems and perform low-voltage I/O checks.
