As a Machine Builder at SDC, you will play a critical role in assembling custom automated machines based on detailed engineering documentation. This includes working with mechanical, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems. Requirements

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of machine-building practices, tools, and equipment.
  • Familiarity with the machining qualities and uses of materials such as carbon steel, tool steels, stainless steel, aluminum, and plastics.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings. Familiarity with pneumatic schematics and electrical wiring diagrams is a plus.
  • Proficiency with eDrawings, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Teams is advantageous.
  • Capability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds and operate lift trucks and overhead cranes.
  • Willingness to work overtime as required.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble custom machines using mechanical blueprints and engineering documentation.
  • Perform primarily mechanical assembly tasks, including pneumatic and basic electrical work as needed.
  • Conduct operations such as mounting, fastening, drilling, tapping, leveling, and plumbing pneumatics or other tube/pipe-based systems.
  • Collaborate with project teams to debug, troubleshoot, and resolve machine performance challenges.
  • Support machine-building processes through acceptance testing and, if required, assist with on-site customer installations and start-up.
  • Operate metalworking and cutting machinery to manufacture or modify custom parts.
  • Perform auxiliary duties, including unpacking equipment, packing outgoing machinery, crating, and packaging.
