About The Position

The Machine Builder is responsible for assembling, debugging, and installing entire machines and systems to meet customer specifications and requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or trade school certification.
  • 1–2 years of related experience, including basic machine assembly.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with tools and equipment such as: Inspection and measurement tools (e.g., Vernier, calipers, scales).
  • Hand tools (e.g., wrenches, pliers, power drills).
  • Machinery (e.g., milling machines, surface grinders, lathes).
  • Physical activity includes standing, walking, pushing, pulling, reaching overhead, and bending.
  • Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds; frequently exert up to 10 pounds of force.
  • Visual acuity to read instructions and computer screens.
  • Hearing ability to comprehend verbal instructions.
  • Manufacturing environment with exposure to high noise levels and physical hazards, including moving mechanical parts and electrical currents.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Journeyman toolmaker or equivalent skills preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Organize, plan, and execute all phases of machine construction.
  • Assemble machines and systems from drawings and verbal instructions.
  • Record changes to machine parts and assemblies on engineering drawings using established procedures.
  • Debug and adjust entire machines, working with engineering as needed.
  • Adjust cam timing, rotary positions, and other components to ensure proper functionality.
  • Provide guidance to junior builders and team members.
  • Fabricate critical machine components as necessary.
  • Collaborate with electrical personnel to address electrical and programming issues.
  • Use knowledge of pneumatic functions, devices, and fittings to achieve desired results.
  • Complete commissioning documentation and organize all project-related prints and materials.
  • Modify machine parts and assemblies, consulting engineering for major or critical changes.
  • Adhere to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements for machine safety devices and guards.
  • Interact with customers as needed.
  • Install and service machines at customer sites, including domestic and international travel.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment, adhering to safety protocols.
  • Properly maintain tools and equipment to ensure efficiency and safety.
  • Follow detailed work instructions and maintain checklists.
  • Contribute to departmental and organizational goals.
  • Recommend improvements to support company growth and efficiency.
  • Comply with International Standardization Organization (ISO) standards.
