About The Position

The Lunch Assistant supports the daily meal service at the Adult Day Care by assisting with food preparation, serving, and clean-up while maintaining a safe, sanitary, and welcoming dining environment for members. This role helps ensure mealtimes are pleasant, dignified, and supportive of the nutritional and social needs of clients. Assist with receiving, preparing, and serving meals in accordance with food safety standards and center guidelines. Set up and organize the dining area, ensuring a clean and inviting environment for participants. Serve meals in a respectful, courteous manner while assisting members who may require extra support. Monitor portion control to ensure compliance with dietary needs and program guidelines. Uphold sanitation and hygiene practices, including proper food handling, storage, and clean-up. Wash, sanitize, and store dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment. Support staff in documenting meal counts and reporting any concerns regarding members’ dietary intake or needs. Encourage a positive, social mealtime experience by engaging respectfully with members. Follow all health department regulations and organizational policies for food service. Assist with special events or activities that involve meals or refreshments. Position requires standing for extended periods, bending, lifting to 25 lbs., and working around kitchen equipment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Position requires standing for extended periods, bending, lifting to 25 lbs., and working around kitchen equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Food Handler Certification (preferred).
  • Prior experience in food service, nutrition programs, or caregiving setting preferred.
  • Dependable, team-oriented, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Adult Day Center or LTC setting serving older adults and individuals with memory or physical impairments.
