About The Position

This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin's Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. We are looking for an RCS propulsion responsible engineer for our Gas Systems team on Lunar Transportation.â You will provide technical leadership to the team, supporting members of your team, advising on technical approaches, and bringing your experience to bear on our most challenging technical problems. You will be responsible for the vehicle's RCS propulsion system, including the complete life cycle of the system from definition, interfaces, detailed design, component development, assembly, verification, and operation.â You will plan out your components' schedules, manage risks and develop mitigation plans for your hardware.â You will work with both internal and external suppliers to design, build, test and analyze components that will take us to the moon! You will work directly with NASA and our National Team Partners as part of the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program. You will play a key role in developing the Lunar Transportation system that will return humans to the Moon and extend human presence permanently beyond the bounds of Earth.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Physics, Systems Engineering or related technical subject area
  • 8+ years of experience in propulsion systems
  • Experience with the full engineering lifecycle of propulsion systems
  • Excellent fundamental understanding of propulsion system requirements
  • Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring
  • Excellent fundamental understanding of compressible flow and 1D flow analysis
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a fast paced, dynamic work environment
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills with ability to directly interface with external parties including government and commercial entities
  • Familiar with either agile or waterfall project management
  • Willingness to work on-site with occasional travel

Nice To Haves

  • M.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Physics, Systems Engineering or related technical subject area
  • Systems Engineering experience, specifically requirements and interface definition, management and verification
