About The Position

This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. We are looking for a Main Engine Propulsion System engineer to lead integration and testing of the main engines on the MK2 Crew Lander. This is a vehicle-centric position which includes the complete life cycle of the integrated propulsion system including development testing. To be successful in this role, you should have demonstrated experience integrating liquid fed rocket engines to a vehicle with professional experience with GNC, engine structures, feedlines, mission concept of operations, fluid system analysis, or propulsion system testing. You will work directly with NASA and our National Team Partners as part of the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program. You will play a key role in developing the Lunar Transportation system that will return humans to the Moon and extend human presence permanently beyond the bounds of Earth.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Physics, Systems Engineering or related technical subject area
  • 8+ years of experience in developing spacecraft propulsion systems
  • Professional experience with main engine gimbals, feedlines, and controls
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a fast paced, dynamic work environment with partners
  • Professional experience designing propulsion systems or hardware in CAD software such as CREO or Siemens NX
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills with ability to directly interface with external parties including government and commercial entities
  • Willingness to work on-site with occasional travel

Nice To Haves

  • M.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Physics, Systems Engineering or related technical subject area
  • Expertise in CREO
  • Experience performing structural analysis or fluid analysis of propulsion systems
  • Experience with upper stages and spacecraft
  • Experience with the entire life cycle of a propulsion or fluid system
