This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. As Test Engineering Manager in our System Test team, you will mentor, train, and lead a team that is developing the tests we will execute on our Lunar Lander vehicle. Working under the Vehicle Test Director, you will ensure tests are planned, prepared, and executed as needed to support the program. Your role includes the complete life cycle. You will develop schedules, manage risks, and collaborate with internal and external suppliers to ensure our test solution meets requirements and risk posture of the program

Requirements

  • Experience designing, testing, troubleshooting, and/or operating complicated aerospace systems
  • Experience leading a team of engineers
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or an equivalent related field
  • Typically 8 or more years of experience
  • Ability to travel as needed to support test planning and execution
  • Ability to support odd hours and long weeks during test execution

Nice To Haves

  • M.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Physics, Systems Engineering, or related field.
  • Systems Engineering experience (requirements, interface definition, verification, validation)
  • Experience on NASA programs and human spaceflight programs
  • Experience leading system-level tests campaigns on large spacecraft
  • Experience with scripting (Python or other scripting language)
  • Experience with software tools such as DOORS Next Generation, Cameo, MATLAB/Simulink, Confluence, JIRA, Git, Creo, and Windchill

Responsibilities

  • Train, mentor, and lead the team developing the Lunar Lander test campaign
  • Oversee development of test plans, test procedures, and test reports
  • Support test campaigns from spacecraft components all the way up to integrated vehicle level
  • Provide technical leadership and solve challenging problems while ensuring 100% safe operations
  • Develop schedules, manage risks, and create risk mitigation plans.
