About The Position

The Lumber Sales Manager is responsible for leading and supporting the lumber sales team while driving profitable growth, exceptional customer service, and strong contractor relationships. This role combines hands‑on sales leadership with coaching, market awareness, and operational coordination to ensure the lumber department meets company goals and customer expectations.

Requirements

  • Experience in lumber sales, building materials, or construction‑related roles
  • Strong knowledge of lumber products, residential construction, and estimating
  • Proven ability to build customer relationships and drive sales
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and work between office, showroom, and lumber yard
  • Valid driver’s license and insurable under company policy

Nice To Haves

  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience
  • Experience working with contractors and project‑based sales
  • Familiarity with estimating software and blueprint reading

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and support the lumber sales team to achieve sales and margin goals
  • Provide guidance on estimating, pricing, and product recommendations
  • Foster a collaborative, solution‑oriented team environment
  • Share product knowledge, market trends, and best practices with the team
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing contractors and key accounts
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities to grow market share
  • Act as a point of escalation for complex customer or project issues
  • Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction and repeat business
  • Monitor local market conditions, competitor activity, and pricing trends
  • Collaborate with management on sales strategies, promotions, and goals
  • Support marketing and outreach efforts related to lumber and building materials
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of quotes, orders, and deliveries
  • Work closely with the yard, purchasing, and accounting teams
  • Support inventory management and adherence to pricing and credit policies
  • Promote clean, safe, and professional workspaces
  • Follow company pricing, service fee, and credit policies
  • Support training initiatives and continuous improvement
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management
