About The Position

The Lubrication Technician will be responsible for lubricating cars in a quick yet thorough manner, and for carrying out their responsibilities through coordination with the Shop Foreman.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or the equivalent.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
  • General mechanical skills.
  • Knowledge in all aspects of automotive repair and maintenance.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Able to use power tools.
  • Valid driver’s license and have and maintain an acceptable, safe driving record.
  • Manual dexterity.
  • Good judgment.
  • Honesty.
  • Cooperation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all lubrication services. (oil change)
  • Perform thorough check of customer’s car (i.e. battery, lights, tires), referring all needed repairs and preventative maintenance to Service Advisor.
  • Operate and maintain all lubrication equipment.
  • Receive repair order from either the Dispatcher, Service Advisor, or Shop Foreman and proceed to service lift.
  • Ensure that the customer’s car is kept clean.
  • Make sure seats, radios, mirrors, and convenience items returned to original positions.
  • DO NOT smoke in customers cars.
  • Make certain all equipment is in proper working order, especially the lifts.
  • Use adequate, but not excessive, amounts of materials and supplies.
  • Inspect fluid levels of steering gear, power steering reservoir, transmission, differential, rear axle housings, and shackles.
  • Check air pressure of tires.
  • Rotate Tires.
  • Drain oil from crankcase and refill with required amount of oil.
  • Add coolant to radiator.
  • Replace oil and air filters.
  • Perform assigned vehicle repairs to the standards of the factory and dealership specifications.
  • Inform dispatcher when job is started, finished, or interrupted.
  • Be particularly attentive to RO’s on vehicles marked “RUSH” or “CUSTOMER WAITING” and keep shop foreman and dispatcher informed of progress.
  • Follow factory and dealership repair procedures when performing warranty work.
  • Save and tag warranty parts for storage.
  • Follow dealership procedures when obtaining parts.
  • Safety glasses to be worn at all times in designated shop areas per company policy.
  • Make sure to perform work in a safe manner, using personal protective equipment, as needed.
  • Keep shop area neat and clean and be able to account for all dealership owned tools at all times.
  • Keep work clothes, equipment, and stall as clean as possible.
