About The Position

The Westborough Public Schools seek a talented Long Term Substitute Math Teacher to join our math department at the Westborough High School. The assignment is expected from mid-January through end of April/early May. Subjects/classes to be taught: 3 sections of Geometry 1 section of Algebra II 1 section of Statistics The Westborough Public Schools seek professionals who are excited to join a high-performing district where academic excellence, equity and wellness are our core values. JOB GOAL: The Math Teacher fosters a love of learning that encourages student curiosity, engagement, and growth in a welcoming community of learners. This position will include three levels of High School Math. Our High School math program follows the DESE grade level curriculum standards and utilizes a variety of resources as instructional material including: Open Up Resources, Impact Series textbooks and a wealth of teacher-created resources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree from an accredited college/university in a related field
  • MA DESE license in 9-12 Mathematics
  • SEI Endorsement

  • Plan and implement differentiated lessons and ongoing formative assessment based on district objectives and the abilities, needs, and interests of students to whom assigned
  • Apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional design with a demonstrated commitment to remain current in content knowledge
  • Partner and collaborate with team teachers, department colleagues, and specialists
  • Communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with students, colleagues, and parents
  • Integrate technology in order to enhance and extend student learning experiences
  • Have a passion for working with students, families, and colleagues and demonstrate a belief in a growth mindset for students as well as for self
  • All appointments are conditional based on a satisfactory CORI and SAFIS Background Check per 603 CMR 51.00.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional certification in special education and/or ESL highly desirable
  • AP Certification preferred
  • Experience teaching English Language learners and in a diverse public school setting
  • Experience with students with special needs, including students with emotional, behavioral, and/or learning challenges
  • Strong background in math instruction
  • Demonstrated skills in effectively and appropriately integrating technology into lesson design, e.g. Google Suite for Education, kahoot, desmos, gizmo, geogebra, geometry sketchpad etc.
  • Highly desirable to have experience with: Co-Teaching Guided Math Workshop model Technology Integration

Responsibilities

  • Create a welcoming and supportive learning environment that embraces the diversity among individuals and ensures equitable opportunities for student learning
  • Provide learning experiences across all subject areas as guided by the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and district standards and requirements
  • Monitor students' understanding of the curriculum effectively and adjusts instruction, materials or assessments when appropriate
  • Evaluate instructional practice and assessment strategies to increase student learning, engagement, and confidence
  • Participate in professional development activities, internal and external, and meet district expectations for licensure recertification
  • Participate in all faculty and committee meetings as required, and district-wide committees as needed
  • Any other relative duties as assigned.
