About The Position

Sentara Medical Group is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to function under the supervision of an RN or Licensed Independent Practitioner (LIP) in a clinical setting, adhering to the scope of practice dictated by the State Boards of Nursing. The LPN will demonstrate professional and clinical knowledge in direct patient care delivery, following site-specific program competencies. This role involves working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, effectively communicating with other licensed independent practitioners (Physicians, NP, PA) to provide collaborative patient care, clinical support, and teaching for patients and family members. The LPN must adhere to legal and ethical standards of nursing practice. The position requires managing workload accurately, providing excellent customer service, performing testing, administering medication, and implementing nursing interventions and care plans to support a holistic approach to patient care. The LPN also serves as a patient advocate in illness and disease prevention. Work may be performed in various settings including hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, outpatient clinics, or private homes.

Requirements

  • Education: Nursing Trading School
  • Certification: LPN license required
  • Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Clinic experience preferred
  • OB GYN experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate professional and clinical knowledge relative to designated clinical practice setting in the delivery of direct patient care, adhering to the level of verified competency dictated by the site-specific program
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support and communicate effectively with other licensed independent practitioners (Physicians, NP, PA) in collaboration while providing care and treatment for patients, clinical support and teaching for patient and family members
  • Adhere to the legal and ethical standards of nursing practice
  • Manage responsibilities of workload with accuracy
  • Provide excellence in customer service
  • Perform testing, medication administration and the implementation of nursing interventions and care plans to support a holistic approach to patient care
  • Serve as patient advocate in the prevention of illness or disease
