About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides care to designated patients under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse. HealthNet is a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) organization of community-based health centers located in Indianapolis and Bloomington, IN. Since 1968, HealthNet has improved the health status of the neighborhoods it serves by making quality health services accessible to everyone. HealthNet annually provides affordable health care to more than 61,000 individuals through its network of 9 primary care health centers, 5 dental clinics, 9 school-based clinics, a mobile health unit, and additional support services. HealthNet’s mission is to improve lives with compassionate health care and support services, regardless of ability to pay.

Requirements

  • Requires LPN
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies
  • Upbeat, positive personality with a passion to serve and educate patients.
  • Critical thinking skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work individually and as a team member.
  • Reliable transportation required.
  • May require travel between health centers.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient’s condition by observing and recording patient behavior.
  • Conduct accurate clinical assessments.
  • Administer medications and other treatment options.
  • Assist all units/staff with problem-solving to obtain necessary equipment, medications, and supplies on an as needed basis.
  • Collaborate with providers and care teams.
  • Assists with procedures
  • Point of care testing
  • Administrative duties such as patient paperwork
  • Develops and maintains on-going relationships with patients
  • Maintains accurate reporting to health department
