Wentworth Health Partners Rheumatology, located at 10 Members Way, Dover, NH, is a full-service practice for adults with arthritis, osteoporosis, musculoskeletal pain disorders, and systemic autoimmune diseases, including Rheumatoid Arthritis, Psoriatic Arthritis, Osteoarthritis, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Gout, Joint Pain, Lupus, Neck & Back Pain, and Raynaud's Syndrome. They are seeking a full-time, 40-hour Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to work onsite Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. This role is for an experienced nurse comfortable with complex patient cases in a fast-paced clinical environment. The LPN will support patients on complex specialty medications, provide extensive education on treatment plans, and coordinate care with infusion centers. The LPN will also assess patient acuity, communicate with physicians, and conduct nurse visits focused on patient education and follow-up care. This position involves serving as the sole LPN in the office, partnering with four physicians and four medical assistants to provide comprehensive, patient-focused care.

Requirements

  • Trade/Technical/Vocational Diploma
  • Licensed Practical Nurse [LPN - State License]
  • Basic knowledge of patient education: interviewing and listening skills, teaching and engagement techniques, and understanding of health-related conditions and information.
  • Ability to accurately perform vital signs and obtain pertinent health information, including but not limited to: temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, height, and weight.
  • Ability to administer medication; routes of administration may include injections, intravenous, and oral medications.
  • Knowledge and ability to perform specific procedures and tests as appropriate to the clinical setting.
  • Ability to communicate in a professional, courteous, clear, and concise manner.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic Life Support [BLS Certification]
  • Medical experience 0-1 year preferred
  • Prior experience in rheumatology is strongly preferred
  • Strong background in internal medicine or neurology

Responsibilities

  • Interviews patients about current problems, medications, and allergies, and reviews medical records for pertinent previous and current information.
  • Measure and record patients' vital signs.
  • Based on the chief complaint, the physician may also perform additional screening exams as needed, such as hearing, vision, depression, and falls assessments.
  • Measure and record patients' vital signs, including height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.
  • Provide basic patient care and treatments, such as dressing wounds, treating bedsores, administering enemas or douches, applying alcohol rubs, massaging, performing catheterizations, administering routine immunizations, and/or providing nebulizer treatments and visual acuity tests.
  • Participates in patient treatment regimen, including administering medications (under the supervision of a physician and registered nurse).
  • Communicates post-visit findings and participates in the plan of care, in coordination with the appropriate clinical staff.
  • Performs a variety of office responsibilities: answers phones and takes messages, and performs triage within the scope of licensed practical nursing practice in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Collect samples, such as blood, urine, or sputum from patients, and perform routine laboratory tests on samples.
  • Prepare patients for examinations, tests, or treatments and explain procedures.
  • Assist patients with bathing, dressing, maintaining personal hygiene, transferring in bed, and standing and walking.
  • Supporting patients who are prescribed complex specialty medications.
  • Providing a high level of education around treatment plans.
  • Coordinating care with infusion centers.
  • Assessing patient acuity.
  • Communicating closely with physicians.
  • Conducting nurse visits that are primarily focused on patient education and follow-up care.
  • Partner with four physicians and four medical assistants to support comprehensive, patient focused care.
