The LPN is prepared to function as a member of the health-care team by exercising sound nursing judgment based on preparation, knowledge, experience in nursing and competency. The LPN participates in the planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care using focused assessment. LPNs will perform selected nursing acts in regards to the care of patients presenting to the emergency department under the direction of a registered nurse, physician and or physician assistant. LPNs function within their scope of practice outlined by the Pennsylvania Board of Nursing. Job Description Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson. Achieve and maintain compliance with all institutional policies and guidelines related to evidence best practices for patient care. An LPN shall communicate with a registered nurse, physician, and the patient’s health care team members to seek guidance with patient care. An LPN may collect data as allowed by the licensed practical nurse scope of practice as defined by the Pennsylvania Nurse Practice Act Work closely with the registered nurse to assure the implementation of safe, quality care of the emergency department patients. Attends ongoing educational activities and completes mandatory education. Implements care in a knowledgeable and skillful manner through adherence to contemporary evidence-based standards. Contributes to professional development of self, peers, and colleagues to support staff development. Performs other duties as assigned.
