About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will work closely with Psychiatrist, APRNs, and other medical providers to deliver high-quality nursing care within the Osage Nation Counseling Center (ONCC) and Primary Residential Treatment (PRT) Clinic. The LPN coordinates and supports patient care across the continuum of behavioral health, substance use, and medical services to promote optimal wellness, self-management, and functional outcomes. All duties are performed in accordance with the Oklahoma Nurse Practice Act, organizational policies, and applicable regulatory requirements. The LPN functions as part of a multidisciplinary behavioral health and substance use treatment team and provides care I a trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and recovery-oriented manner. Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program
  • Current unrestricted LPN License in the State of Oklahoma.
  • Current BLS for healthcare providers certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross).
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic health record (EHR) systems
  • Intermediate knowledge of substance use disorders, co-occurring mental health conditions, and recovery-oriented care
  • Advance knowledge of HIPPA and 42 CFR Part 2 confidentiality requirements
  • Willing and able to perform physical duties including prolonged walking, bending, lifting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling, often exceeding 50 pounds.
  • Willing and able to work a schedule of four 10-hour shifts per week, including holidays and weekends as required.
  • Must be certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) by American Heart Association or American Red Cross and maintained throughout employment. In the event certification due for renewal, must be obtained during orientation prior to any patient interaction.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug/alcohol testing and have a clean driving record – may be required to drive GSA or tribal vehicles
  • A driver's license may be required to work in certain departments. If so, the applicant/employee must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Osage Nation Health System (ONHS) Nation underwriting rating.
  • Employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
  • Educated on and compliant with HIPAA regulations; maintains strict confidentiality of client information.
  • Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for Indian Child Welfare Act.

Nice To Haves

  • 3 or more years of nursing experience in mental health or substance use treatment preferred
  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) must be obtained within ninety (90) days of hire.
  • ACLS/PALS certification preferred
  • Must be certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and maintained throughout employment. If not certified, ACLS certification must be obtained within ninety (90) days of hire.
  • Must be certified in Pediatric Life Support (PALS) and maintained throughout employment. If not certified, PALS certification must be obtained within ninety (90) days of hire.
  • Intermediate knowledge with medication-assisted treatment (MAT) (e.g., buprenorphine, naltrexone) or willingness to be trained
  • Experience administering medications orally and via intramuscular injection
  • Knowledge of EPIC EHR system
  • Ability to accurately obtain, document, and report vital signs and clinical observations
  • Knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, illness, and disease processes sufficient to communicate effectively with providers, patients, families, and staff
  • Experience observing, recording, and reporting patient information accurately and efficiently
  • Knowledge of growth and development principles and ability to provide age-appropriate care
  • Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to withdrawal symptoms, medication side effects, and behavioral health crises
  • Self-motivated, high-energy individual able to work with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated integrity, ethical conduct, confidentiality, and professionalism
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Willingness to complete a minimum of six (6) continuing education units annually
  • Willingness to learn new skills and attend trainings and conferences as required
  • Ability to maintain professional appearance and adhere to dress code standards
