About The Position

HealthPartners is hiring for a LPN/Medical Assistant/EMT at our Apple Valley Clinic in the Pediatrics department.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (LPN).
  • Current LPN licensure in Minnesota (LPN).
  • Current BLS provider status in accordance with American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines. On-line BLS certification is not acceptable (LPN).
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills including appropriate use of English grammar and spelling (LPN).
  • High school diploma or GED (Medical Assistant/EMT).
  • Graduated of an accredited Medical Assistant program OR Graduate of an accredited EMT program and current EMT License (Medical Assistant/EMT).
  • Current BLS provider status in accordance with American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines. On-line BLS certification is not acceptable (Medical Assistant/EMT).
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, including appropriate use of English grammar and spelling (Medical Assistant/EMT).

Nice To Haves

  • One year working experience as an LPN is preferred.
  • Current Medical Assistant Certification or Registration through AAMA or AMT is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Identify common and recurring nursing needs of the patient (LPN).
  • Recognize the need for and perform routine office procedures and testing in the ambulatory care setting (LPN).
  • Assist patients to achieve basic health care goals (LPN).
  • Identify patient education needs, provide instruction and refer appropriately (LPN).
  • Document observations, actions and patient outcomes (LPN).
  • Provide safe, accurate and clinically competent direct care to patients and families (LPN).
  • Recognize patient’s abnormalities or urgent problems and seek appropriate assistance (LPN).
  • Obtain health history information (LPN).
  • Obtain accurate vital signs, recognize and report variances (LPN).
  • Teach techniques or provide information according to established program (LPN).
  • Accurately and appropriately document procedures and treatment in each patient’s record (LPN).
  • Appropriately communicate information to other members of the health care team (LPN).
  • Provide the patient and family with current and accurate information regarding the procedure and care (LPN).
  • Perform telephone screening under direction of RN or MD (LPN).
  • Assure patients’ rights to privacy, safety and confidentiality (LPN).
  • Maintain current practice by obtaining continuing education in relevant practice areas (LPN).
  • Maintain CPR certification (LPN).
  • Serve as a catalyst in improving standards of LPN practice (LPN).
  • Serve as a role model for technical conduct and practice (LPN).
  • Provide support to professional and technical staff (LPN).
  • Solve problems appropriately seeking assistance from members of the healthcare team (LPN).
  • Effect positive response from patients and other members of the healthcare team through interpersonal skills (LPN).
  • Room patients and complete vital signs and other pertinent physical measurements (Medical Assistant/EMT).
  • Administer medication and clinical procedures according to authorized policy and documented according to HealthPartners policy. This may include DISCUS or AIMS assessment (Medical Assistant/EMT).
  • Review charts for the presence of pertinent information relevant to the patient’s appointment. This may include Prepared Practice work as developed by the team (Medical Assistant/EMT).
  • Provide and document any needed and requested health educational materials to the patient (Medical Assistant/EMT).
  • Handle patient and their records in a private and confidential manner per HealthPartners policy (Medical Assistant/EMT).
  • Seek medical and/or nursing assistance when encountering an acutely ill patient or a patient with a changing condition (Medical Assistant/EMT).
  • Prepare exam rooms and treatment rooms and set up for procedures (Medical Assistant/EMT).
  • Assist provider as needed (Medical Assistant/EMT).
  • Prepare the patient for medical interventions (Medical Assistant/EMT).
  • Prepare charts and records for appointments as indicated by the type of clinic visit according to established practices (Medical Assistant/EMT).
  • Check MSRs for completion and route appropriately (Medical Assistant/EMT).
  • Prepare lab, x-ray and miscellaneous forms as requested (Medical Assistant/EMT).
  • Process drug refills according to clinic protocols (Medical Assistant/EMT).
  • Monitor station logs as assigned (Medical Assistant/EMT).
  • Facilitate timely and accurate flow of communication within the clinic/location (Medical Assistant/EMT).
  • Accurately receive and relay messages and test results to the appropriate person/location in a manner consistent with clinic practices and/or standards (Medical Assistant/EMT).
  • Gather all necessary and appropriate information from a caller and relay information to the appropriate provider for necessary follow-up (Medical Assistant/EMT).
  • Inform reception desk of provider’s schedule status and assist in coordination of urgent and non-urgent provider schedule changes to ensure patient and provider needs are met (Medical Assistant/EMT).
  • Perform patient correspondence when requested and assist patients in completing forms when appropriate (Medical Assistant/EMT).
  • Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment according to procedure and OSHA standards (Medical Assistant/EMT).
  • Complete scheduled cleaning requirements for designated work areas (Medical Assistant/EMT).
  • Document completion of work to comply with infection control and OSHA standards (Medical Assistant/EMT).
  • Implement other infection control procedures as needed and adhere to protective clothing requirements (Medical Assistant/EMT).
  • Ensure clinic supplies are adequately stocked and well organized (Medical Assistant/EMT).
  • Process and deliver department inventory requests in a timely manner (Medical Assistant/EMT).
  • Routinely check expiration dates and remove or replace outdated supplies (Medical Assistant/EMT).
  • Maintain prescription sample supply cabinet as per clinic protocol (Medical Assistant/EMT).
  • Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and adequate records are kept (Medical Assistant/EMT).
  • Ensure inventory of instruments and equipment is current (Medical Assistant/EMT).
  • Ensure instruments and equipment are calibrated as needed and maintained in proper working order (Medical Assistant/EMT).
